Back in the day, it was not really the
thing for males to get surgical cosmetic enhancements. But today they are more
open to it, sometimes even getting ahead of women in some procedures. Recent
statistics even showed that one in ten cosmetic surgery procedures are
performed on men.
Here is a list of the common male cosmetic
surgeries today, and some reasons why it came to be so.
HAIR TRANSPLANT
One cosmetic procedure that is much widely
common in men than in women is hair transplant. This was largely due to the
fact that a lot of guys are losing hair their hair in excessive amounts even
before they reach 50. In 2012 there was an increase in hair transplant
surgeries which was attributed to celebrities such as Wayne Rooney who were
candid about their procedure. With improved techniques and equipment’s
confidence in hair transplant surgery also increased.
Hair transplant remains to be among the
most requested procedure in males because not only does it help them regain a
full head of hair but their confidence as well.
BOTOX INJECTIONS
Men are also getting into Botox injections
in order to erase any signs of aging. Even male Hollywood celebrities, such as
Peter Andre, admitted to having Botox injected. Even the once dubbed as the
most handsome man alive, Brad Pitt, was rumored to have received dermal
fillers. Some do it because it was needed to boost their careers, while some do
it because they want to get a better edge in dating.
LIPOSUCTION
The challenges that men also have to deal
with are stubborn fats. It was a popular procedure among older men with over a
20% increase in male inquirers. With middle-age spread also becoming an issue
that is why liposuction becomes a good option. Using a narrow and hollow
cannula it helps remove fats from the body, even in those hard to reach areas.
Some men want this not only for the purpose
of vanity but also for health reasons. It helps them move around better and it
also makes them feel better about their bodies.
BREAST REDUCTION
If the ladies are augmenting their chests,
males on the other hand are also getting breast reduction surgery. This is to
answer to the problem called gynecomastia, or the enlargement of the male
chest, making it looks like they have female breasts. Surgery can be done to
remove fats and excess breast tissue tightening the chest area. The number of
procedures done in 2012 has increased over the last five years.
RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery also tops the
list in male cosmetic surgeries. This procedure improves the appearance of the
nose either by removing or sculpting certain structures. Some guys request for
this procedure either to improve the general appearance of their nose, and also
to correct structural abnormalities that are already causing breathing
problems.
FACELIFT
Some guys also want to get that youthful
appearance through the aid of facelifts. This procedure requires incisions and
scars that are created behind the ears. Through this the structures of the face
are lifted to make it appear younger, smoother and even plumper. Reality TV actor Bruce Jenner was seen to
have what seemed to be post facelift scars.
