How Prince Harry Treats His Hair Loss? And How You Can Treat Hair Loss Too!

The royal family may be rich, but it seems that this does not apply to them in terms of the number of hair follicles they have on their heads. We first saw Prince Charles gradually losing some volume to his mane, and we see it on the next line to the throne, Prince William. But the “black sheep” of the family was not spared from this follicular misfortune because Prince Harry is showing signs of balding, as well.

After teasing his older brother for his thinning hair, the younger royal may have realized that the joke was on him too. Photographs show that he is losing some hair himself, all thanks to genetic makeup. He may not inherit the thrown, but boy did he get his family's tendency to lose hair, a condition called male pattern baldness.

But, unlike William who resigned on doing something about his hair loss, Prince Harry seems to be making attempts at regaining and keeping his ginger locks in place. His treatment of choice? Asparagus.
This may not be the first thing that you would expect him to do, but he could be on the right page on this one!

Harry has been spotted a couple of times eating asparagus, which nutritionists say is a very good defense against hair loss. This can be attributed to its high alkaline content and a handful of nutrients that promote healthy hair growth. It contains vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid, iron, and silicon.

Vitamin A

This vitamin aids in hair growth and maintenance mainly because it is involved in regulating retonoic acid synthesis of the hair follicle. But, taking vitamin A supplements should be done with caution because having too much in your system can also cause hair loss. Another way of getting vitamin A to your hair to promote hair growth is to massage it over you hair shafts.

Vitamin C

One of the functions that vitamin C is most popular for is its antioxidant action. Since hair loss can also be caused or aggravated by stress, this is a good nutrient to keep healthy levels in your system. It also aids in the absorption of iron which is essential to hair growth. Since the body does not manufacture its own vitamin C, it is important that you get it through food sources or through multivitamin supplements. The daily recommended dose of vitamin C is 1000 to 2000 daily.

Vitamin E

This is also another vitamin that possesses antioxidant capacity. Studies also show that it promotes hair growth and prevents hair loss. It does these actions because vitamin E aids in the growth of tiny blood vessels called capilliaries. When there are more capillaries, it means that there is better blood circulation in the area, which ultimately prevents hair loss.

Folic Acid

One nutrient that asparagus is rich in is folic acid. It is part of the family of B vitamins that aids the body in absorbing protein. Since protein is an important part of the hair, increased absorption also means faster hair growth.

Iron

Various researches show that iron deficiency can be linked to hair loss, which is why one can definitely benefit from the rich content in asparagus. But, it is important that you get the right levels of iron in your system because having too much can also be toxic for the body.

Silicon

This mineral may be confused with Silicone, but they are actually two very different things. Silicone is the material used in medical devices like tubings or implants. Meanwhile, silicon is used for conditions like Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, osteoporosis, and hair loss.

How you can also fight hair loss?

If Prince Harry is indeed munching on asparagus for his hair loss, then this is actually a smart move that you can follow in managing the same dilemma. It may be smart to opt for more affordable options, like eating highly nutritious fruits and veggies, but there are also more aggressive and reliable means of doing it.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

First of all, there is laser therapy. I am pretty sure, his royal highness can surely afford this kind of treatment, and it is actually a good option too. As people tend to go for less invasive measures today, laser therapy for hair loss have proven to be effective.

Low-level laser therapy is considered to be among the most reliable treatments for hair loss. The treatment uses an FDA approved device that contains diodes that emit a red light or a cool laser that is absorbed by the cells, stimulating the process of cell repair and promotes hair growth.

Hair transplant

If you are among those who are not afraid to go under the knife for a more aggressive treatment to hair loss, then you might find surgery to be a sure solution. It involves removing donor hair grafts from the back of the head, which is then transplanted to the bald portion. This would take some time to heal, but if done properly and without any problems in healing, this treatment can actually give you impressive results. Prince Harry can take his queue from famous footballer Wayne Rooney.

Medications

This is actually the easiest way to treat hair loss and the most convenient too. There are over-the-counter hair loss medications available today, which some actually swear by with popular brands that include Minoxidil and Finasteride. You have to be cautious though when taking these medications because it comes with accompanying side effects, which ironically also include hair loss.

You can choose from any of the treatments mentioned above, but it is also important that you include a healthy diet and lifestyle to prevent hair loss. Who knows what other measures Prince Harry might do to address his balding, or he may simply follow his brother and just live with it. But for now, eating a bowl of asparagus everyday is not a bad idea at all if you want to keep your hair on your head!
